Variety – the Children’s Charity Brings Sunshine to Cobram

08-Apr-2016 11:11 AM

On Tuesday 12 April at midday, Variety – The Children’s Charity Victoria will present a 12-seater Sunshine Coach to the staff and students of Cobram & District Specialist School.

Variety brings sunshine to the lives of thousands of children through its Sunshine Coach program. They have granted over 1200 coaches to various Special Schools and other organisations to enable them to transport children to daily activities and other special life experiences.

The schools and organisations raise a portion of the cost of the coach, and Variety sources the rest of the funds through various channels including our generous corporate sponsors and supporters.

Sunshine coaches enable children to interact with the broader community in ways they previously couldn’t and allows them to visit places they otherwise might not be able to, by making them mobile. This is especially important for children with special needs, who may only be able to travel between school and home due to having a special need.
With access to a Sunshine Coach, schools and organisations no longer need to plan the timing of activities around Public Transport timetables, and they can rest assured that wheelchair access is taken care of.

In 2015, Variety granted 17 Sunshine Coaches which traverse the country helping children from all walks of life to live, laugh and learn.
