On Friday 18 August, Australia’s longest running motoring event the Variety Bash, will embark on an epic giving journey from Melbourne to Fraser Island, seeing Variety – the Children’s Charity giving out over $160,000 in grants to schools and organisations in just 24 hours.

he Bash entrants will gather at Traralgon Football Club on Whittackers Rd on Friday afternoon where the general public are encouraged to come and take a look at the colourful characters and their cars before the official presentations begin.

Presentations will take place in 12 different locations along the 2017 Bash route including: Warragul, Jindivick, Traralgon and Longwarry, just to name a few.

The kinds of presentations will vary – everything from iPads and books, to a sensory room upgrade and even an assistance dog.

Over 250 loud and proud entrants will take part in the event this year, dressed in full costume from start to finish – something that the school children they visit along the route really look forward to seeing. This year the Bash will feature Smurfs, characters from Sesame Street, the Blues Brothers, The Flintstones and many more!

The Bash can inject up to $35,000 per town along the route, and these funds enable local community groups to do great work in improving town infrastructure or initiating community projects.

The Variety Bash is Australia’s largest and longest-running motoring event. Over the last 27 years, the Variety Bash has raised over $23 million for children in need and travelled over 105,000 kilometres across our great continent.
