Variety – the Children’s Charity of South Australia, has been named the best performing Variety office in the world and presented with the ‘’Gold Heart Award’’ at the 2015 Variety International Conference. This award recognises the chapter that best demonstrates the following attributes: programs, innovation, financial stability and growth.

The winner was announced over the weekend at an awards dinner in Milwaukee.

‘’We are honoured to be recognised as the top performing office in the world,’’ says Variety SA Chief Executive Officer, Mark McGill.

‘’It is only through the hard work, enthusiasm and passion of a great team of staff, volunteers, sponsors and supporters that this has been made possible,’’ he said.

‘’The end result, and what drives us, is helping more kids,’’ said Mark.

In addition, the Adelaide office was been nominated as a finalist for an Innovation Award for their work in generating new revenue streams, had long time contributor and past 4WD Challenge Chairman, David Ahola, recognised with an International Presidential Citation as well as supporting companies Beatwave and Codan recognised for Media and Corporate contributions respectively.

Hosted in May each year since 1937, the Variety International World Conference unites donors, supporters, board and other volunteers, sponsors and professional employees, from the forty international Variety offices, who assist children around the world.

Despite incredible advances in medical science, practices and therapy, the number of children needing Variety’s help grows each year. The purpose of the conference is to share and learn from our Variety peers and expert presenters on ways each office can grow and prosper to meet this increasing need and to celebrate the past years successes.

Variety SA distributed $2.484m through 175 grants to help 22, 487 sick, disadvantaged and special needs children in South Australia last year.
