CMB introduces American Express Blue Card to Mainland China

China Merchants Bank (CMB) joined American Express to launch the CMB American Express® Blue Card. The new single-network RMB credit card has an eye-catching translucent design and is crafted to cater to Chinese customers’ overseas spending needs.
Shanghai, 27th October 2016 – Single-network RMB credit cards have become a new trend among increasingly discerning Chinese travelers. Today, China Merchants Bank (CMB) joined American Express to launch the CMB American Express® Blue Card. The new single-network RMB credit card has an eye-catching translucent design and is crafted to cater to Chinese customers’ overseas spending needs.
As the first local issuing partner to introduce the American Express® Blue Card to Mainland China, CMB has already launched the widest array of American Express products in the market. This new product will help CMB further reinforce its leading position in overseas markets and boost its business. Additionally, it helps both companies enhance their appeal with younger consumers by strengthening the partnership.

To meet Chinese customers’ increasing demands on overseas spending, CMB continues to beef up the competitiveness of its growing single-network RMB credit card portfolio. The new Card, released under the slogan “Blue Dreams, Living the World”, is tailored for aspiring young affluent consumers.
In 1999, American Express introduced the Blue Card, an innovative product made up of patented transparent card materials with a stylish design. This product also offers a wide array of benefits and world-class services, making it one of the most sought-after cards among young customers around the world.
Since 2012, CMB has issued the Green Card (personal/corporate), the Gold Card (personal/corporate), the Platinum Card, and the Centurion Card from American Express. With the launch of the new Card, CMB will offer the widest array of American Express products in the local market.

Card Members of the CMB American Express Blue Card will enjoy five main benefits:
· No foreign exchange fees;
· All transactions billed in Chinese yuan;
· A strong merchant network around the globe;
· Complimentary travel insurance with high limits; and
· No annual fees.
Moreover, Card Members are also offered a wide range of privileges by American Express, such as:
· 250 yuan off for their first eligible booking at Airbnb with minimum spending of 1,000 yuan (excluding Airbnb service and cleaning fees);
· Cash rebates on overseas online shopping of up to 15%;
· 10% Cash rebates on in-store transactions in the five most popular overseas destinations (Hong Kong, Macao, Japan, Singapore, and the United States); and
· Special offers from leading merchants across the world;
New Card Members who have not previously held a CMB credit card before can win a Samsonite travel bag or 1,000 CMB points through the CMB mobile App after their first eligible transaction. For those who make three eligible transactions (no minimum spending required) or three repayment through CMB mobile APP will be given a special promotional code to redeem a complimentary 8-day overseas wifi service at CMB mobile App.
Before 30th September 2017, Card Members who spend a total of 1,500 U.S. dollars or more in a calendar quarter can redeem a complimentary airport limousine service (one-way from/to airport) for only 9 CMB points through the CMB Mobile App.
