Beijing, 8th May 2017 – Today Bank of China and American Express announced the launch of two new single-network credit card products, the Bank of China Great Wall Global-in-One American Express® Platinum Card (“The Platinum Card”) and the Bank of China Great Wall Global-in-One American Express® Gold Card (“The Gold Card”). Both cards have an EMV chip and a trendy design for travel lovers, and are crafted to enrich Chinese travelers’ global experiences. Not only do they strengthen the long-term partnership between the two global brands, the new cards also demonstrate the shared customer service commitments of both Bank of China and American Express.

Early this year China National Tourism Administration reported that 122 million mainland Chinese travelled abroad, with total overseas spending of $109.8 billion USD in 2016. The report also projected that the number of travelers is expected to climb to about 127 million in 2017, which will reinforce China’s leading position as the world’s largest source market for international travel.

Moreover, the American Express Future of Travel survey also indicated that Chinese travelers are getting more demanding about convenience, comfort, and security, and are looking for products and services that can enhance their overseas experiences. Ninety-seven percent (97%) of the surveyed Chinese travelers expect a travel service company to customize experiences based on their preferences, and 94% are willing to pay more for exceptional service.

“Bank of China is the most international and diversified Chinese bank. We are long committed to offering customers high-quality, one-stop cross-border financial services with our international experience and global service network in 51 countries and regions.” said Hu Haozhong, General Manager, Bank Card Center, Bank of China. “The two new cards is a new milestone of meeting the cross-border payment needs of our mid- and high-end customers.”

“We are very excited to be working with Bank of China to open this new page of our long-term partnership; one we’ve had since the 1980s.” said Dave Keung, Managing Director, China, American Express. “For more than a century, American Express has been known for helping travelers around the world make the most of their journeys. By bringing together our partner’s local strengths and our global resources, we can offer our customers unique experiences and lifelong memories. ”
