Queensland floods class action doorstop – Day 2

05-Dec-2017 8:11 AM

Maurice Blackburn Class Action Principal Rebecca Gilsenan will be available to media for a brief doorstop media conference outside the NSW Law Courts at 9:30am this morning, ahead of day two of the South East Queensland floods class action trial.

The trial is being run in front of Justice Robert Beech-Jones in the New South Wales Supreme Court, (there was no state-based class action regime in Queensland at the time the case was filed), and will sit for two weeks prior to Christmas, in which time the plaintiff’s case will be outlined. The case will then resume in February next year.
Class Action Principal at Maurice Blackburn, Rebecca Gilsenan, said:
“This case is not about whether or not the dam operators did their best in trying circumstances, it’s about whether or not they did what they were supposed to do.
“Our case will show that they clearly didn’t, given they ignored the dam operating manual that they helped create.”
The trial is being live streamed at this web address: http://www.supremecourt.justice.nsw.gov.au/Pages/sco2_classaction/floods.aspx
