The Chief of Air Force, Air Marshal Leo Davies today thanked the Gippsland community for their strong support to the Australian International Airshow.
Air Marshal Davies said he was excited to see such a large number of keen participants have the opportunity to see the Defence Force in action.
“Our force is incredibly well equipped, with some of the best military aviation and technology in the world. Through Plan Jericho we will network and integrate these technologies together for even greater effect.
“The Airshow is a great opportunity for Australians to talk to our personnel and understand just how advanced our Air Force is, how innovative our personnel are, and see the latest technology for themselves,” Air Marshal Davies said.
“In collaboration with Aerospace Australia Limited, Avalon Airport, the Australian aerospace industry, visiting international military forces, and our Army and Navy colleagues, we delivered a spectacular airshow. I congratulate everyone who contributed to this outstanding success.”
Chief Executive Officer Aerospace Australia Limited, Ian Honnery, said the strong crowd numbers reflected the exciting action-packed program—the largest event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.
During the six-day event, the Australian public and defence industry enjoyed breathtaking flying and an amazing array of private, industry, international and Australian Defence Force ground and static aircraft displays to view up close.
“Everyone has worked extremely hard to deliver a truly memorable airshow and I would like to thank our sponsors and the Australian Defence Force for their generous contributions and cooperation in promoting the aviation, aerospace and defence sector.
“Most importantly, we would like to thank the Victorian community for their continuous support so that we can continue to host such an unforgettable international event!’ Mr Honnery said.
