More thrill on your bill: American Express partners with Australia’s leading retailers to deliver up to $5.3 million in savings to shoppers
31-May-2015 12:00 AM
American Express today announced it is putting up to $5.3 millioni back into the pockets of Australian shoppers through the launch of its revamped digital offers platform, in partnership with a range of the country’s leading brands and retailers.
This comes in response to research showing that Australia is a nation of value-driven spenders, always on the lookout for a great deal. Findings showed Australian shoppers’ main motivations for spending include in-store discounts and offers as well as online deals and vouchersii.
Dean Chadwick, Vice President Consumer Acquisition & Loyalty at American Express said; "We know Australians spend a proportion of their disposable income on food and wine, fashion, entertainment and electronics. More often than not, they tend to do so at everyday brands and department stores such as David Jones and Harvey Norman which is why we have partnered with these brands. The launch of Amex Offers makes it easy for us to reward Card Members when spending at their favourite stores in a discreet way."
Amex Offers is a one-stop shop for Card Members providing a unique way to save at some of Australia’s biggest brands including Harvey Norman, David Jones, Liquorland, Country Road, 7-Eleven and Woolworths (available 2 June). Offers are selected and ranked based on individual relevance and are delivered discreetly at the click of a button, and there’s no need to print off or display any coupons. Once an eligible purchase has been made, customers instead enjoy direct credit back onto their statement.
Since first launching offers in late 2013, American Express has put $5.6 millioniii back into the pockets of Australian Card Members when spending at major retailers such as The Iconic, Target and Harris Farm, both in store and online. With the revamped offers platform launching today, American Express expects to give an additional $5.3 million back in savings to Australian shoppers, making the total cumulative savings potential more than $10 million by end of 2015.
American Express spending data shows that the supermarket, retail and petrol categories are the most popular when it comes to redeeming Offers, and that weekend days most commonly see the highest levels of redemption across Australia. Additional research also shows that Victoria is the country’s most value-driven state, just ahead of South Australia and West Australia, with shoppers more likely to be motivated to spend by savings and offersiv.
To take advantage of Amex Offers, Card Members need to: Visit www.amexoffers.com.au or sign in to the American Express app using their existing American Express User ID and Password. Explore the range of offers online and ‘click’ to save to an eligible American Express Card. Spend with their American Express Card at the qualified merchant. There’s no need to print off coupons. Once an eligible purchase has been made, the customer can enjoy direct credit back onto their statement.
