American Express Card Members who dine out over this holiday season can now receive $20 credit on their card account when they spend $50 or more at participating restaurants booked through Dimmi - Australia’s leading restaurants booking site.

This is the first offer to come out of an exclusive, long-term partnership between American Express and Dimmi, which launched in September 2016. The collaboration sees eligible consumer Cards fully integrated across the booking platform, allowing its Card Members to easily identify American Express accepting Dimmi restaurants, and make a reservation. A simple solution has been created, which avoids the hassle of vouchers and coupons.

To benefit from this offer, American Express Card Members need to visit www.Dimmi.com.au/amex and sync their Card to their Dimmi account or join as a new member. Once synced, the American Express Dimmi diner just needs to book one of the participating restaurants here, dine and spend $50+ on their synced Card at the booked restaurant to be eligible for their dining credit

Diners are encouraged to get in quick as this offer is only available to the first 25,000 bookings made between Monday 28 November and Saturday, 31 December 2016.

Dimmi CEO and founder, Stevan Premutico says this offer provides a taste of what the partnership brings to the table for both partner restaurants and American Express Card Members.

“American Express Card Members love to dine out, and they spend more and visit more often than the average customer. This offer provides our partner restaurants who warmly welcome American Express with the type of marketing opportunity ‘money can’t buy’. It will draw highly valued diners through the doors while leaving customers with a great value experience that keeps them coming back for more.”

Sian Chadwick, Vice President Global Merchant Services Marketing, American Express Australia says, "Today’s diner is digitally discerning. Almost half of all restaurants use digital booking systems to reserve a table and a further two thirds read online reviews before making a decision to book. We are proud to be able to support our Merchants with the digital tools to drive more bookings and promote themselves. This offer only serves to highlight the additional value we bring to our Merchants through our partnership with Dimmi.”

“It’s a great offer for our Card Members too. We are delighted to be able to offer an enhanced dining experience for customers that is not only convenient to book but will earn them credit for dining out and paying with their American Express card. We believe it is a win-win situation for both our Card Members and our Dining Merchants.”

Data from the 2016 Restaurant and Catering Industry Trend Report shows that American Express customers are spending more than ever at Australian restaurants with:

  • American Express Card Members spending an average of $410 on all restaurant purchases in the month prior, relative to $272 average restaurant spend reported by Australian Non American Express Card Members
  • 12.2% growth in American Express transactions across the fine dining sector
  • 3.8% increase in total American Express spend in the fine dining sector

The Dimmi Booking Network continues to expand rapidly and now includes major international and domestic brands such as Qantas, TripAdvisor, Google, Good Food and American Express.
